On December 3rd, Team President Ricky Sauter and Team Secretary Matt Litchfield attended the 2007 LAMBRA planning meeting. This was the first official event for the team. During the meeting several changes were made to the LAMBRA Bylaws. Most significantly was the rule change no longer allowing CAT 5 seniors to score LCCS points either as individual or for their respective teams. This was done in hopes of reducing the number of “Lifetime Cat V’s”.
The 2007 race schedule was also ironed out (for the most part). There was a lot of initial worry when Rouge Roubaix was not sponsored by any team and looked like it would not be conducted in 2007. It has since been adopted so masochists fear not, its on the calendar!
Interestingly the entire race season seems to have shifted forward in the calendar. Racing starts in February and the busiest months appear to be May and June (you can the current LAMBRA event calendar at ). Initially July and August were almost devoid of races but a few have moved in to fill the gap since. Clearly the promoters remembered last year’s scorching hot and dangerous late summer days. One report during the 2006 Giro d’ Rankin had the mercury at 107 !
In an unanimous vote, Randy Legeai was elected president of LAMBRA. All at Precision Bikes Racing extend our hearty thanks and appreciation for his service in this position.
Other issues that were discussed were: Track racing at a “cross-road” in 2007 with changes being made to facilitate its growth; the return of the venerable Shane Hernandez to the LAMBRA staff, a new LCCS points category for 55 .
Now the team is focused on the more the immediate concern of preparing the first order for team uniforms. The first order will be placed before the end of the year. Please ensure you have contacted Team VP, Glenn Richard, to place your order ASAP. There will most likely be a second order to follow but as of now that is not confirmed. Given the early start of the 2007 race season (as of this writing, racing starts in 67 days!) it would be a safer move to get in on the first order.
Peloton Members remember to get your USAC annual license in order to qualify for uniform allowance and race fee reimbursement. Just as a reminder all USAC licenses expire a week from Sunday on New Years Eve ~ not on the anniversary of enrollment like in the old days
