USCF / USAC Cycling Team Name: Precision Bikes Racing Team

Club ID#:       TBD

Team Ownership: CCRacing Incorporated

MISSION:

CCRacing is striving to rebuild the strong cycling tradition in the Lafayette and Acadiana areas while incorporating a new approach to team operations as opposed to historical methods. We see ourselves as members of the local cycling community first and racers second.  Despite a racer’s category, experience, or office , all members are equal, and will be respected as such.

MEMBERSHIP:

Membership options also reflect our approach.  We offer two memberships so the cyclist can participate in a level that they are comfortable with:

TEAM MEMBERSHIP

The team membership is for riders who focus primarily on local group rides, charity event rides, centuries, and occasionally race. This membership has no fees but also does not cover some incurred expenses that are reimbursed to Peloton members.

PELOTON MEMBERSHIP

The Peloton membership is designed for riders who place a higher priority on participating in regional USA Cycling / LAMBRA / LCCS races. The membership has more requirements that incur time and expenses to the rider but also provides more benefits.

Joining CCRacing is much like joining other civic organizations.  Interested persons should contact a current club member or go directly to an officer.  The officers will make the final decision via democratic vote. CCRacing is seeking individuals who possess competitiveness, easygoing - positive attitudes, and are TEAM oriented.  To maintain this positive atmosphere, which is in the best interest of our team, we may have to say no to someone.  This is never an easy choice but is one we feel committed to.  None of us get paid to ride ~ its all about having fun.

MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATION:

Communication: Once on the team, all communication will be forwarded to our yahoo group. Go to Yahoo Groups and search for CCRacingTeam; this link and click the “join this group” button. This will prompt the yahoo moderator for membership approval, and you will be added to the list. Once you get familiar with the yahoo group page, take some time to fill in the different tables of racer information that we have made available.  Also you will be emailed a Team Newsletter that will cover team events, activities, races, and results!

Benefits:

CCRacing will reimburse each Peloton member for LAMBRA / LCCS events only. This will avoid confusion when it comes time to pre-register. Each racer will not have to depend on someone else’s actions but will have their own self-assurance when registering themselves. It also gives that racer a chance to sign up for an event on race day without worries.

Team kits (uniforms): CCRacing will pay for a percentage (still TBA) towards Peloton members team apparel.  Team members may purchase theirs at list price. Revenue from these sales will go directly towards CCRacing.

Prize Money with the exception of individual TT’s, will be split evenly to all racers in the category that started the race. This way we all have fun in racing as a TEAM not a bunch of riders dressed alike with a shot at the BIG MONEYJ.

*      Hosted Event: As an affiliate of LAMBRA, we are required to host one race per season. For that event, we will have to be more focused on running the event than participating in it.  Peloton members are expected to support the race.  Team member’s help would be greatly appreciated.  Friends, family, and volunteers are more than welcome to help out as well. Most likely, our first year, we will keep it simple.  A TT early in the season as a warm up to some of the big TT’s later in the season would probably be our choice.  Ultimately, our goal would be to bring a stage race to Acadiana. We will also attempt to put on a century ride in conjunction with the Cajun Cyclists as a fund raiser.

FAQ

Does CCRacing compete with Cajun Cyclists?  NO, we are all part of Cajun Cyclists as our sister organization. Our very name “CCRacing” reflects our connection to the club. We are an off shoot of Cajun Cyclists for the purpose of participating and supporting competitive cycling events.

If I am a team member and paid no dues, why is my first LAMBRA race fee covered? One of the main goals of our team is to encourage participation on bicycle racing. We will cover the cost of your first ever race. That way you can try it for the cost of a one day license and gas! If you decided to continue, we’d hope you’d switch to a Peloton membership.

If I start as a Team member and switch to a Peloton membership midway through the season, how much would I have to pay?  Well of course this would first require you to have an annual license through USA Cycling. We would then pro-rate the team dues depending on what part of the season were are in.

If I start off as a Peloton member and realize I’m not going to get to race this year, can I get a refund?  Sorry, as a small team we really can’t afford that.

What happens if I sign up as a Peloton member and do not meet the race number requirements? TBA

Can I just be a Team member and go to an occasional race?  Yes, but the team can’t reimburse your costs.

Do we have club meetings?  Most likely, not.  We will try to put out most team information on the Yahoo group list.  Team officers will meet as needed for club business.  If we are hosting an event, there may be event committee meetings for those involved.

If I am a Peloton member, am I supposed to buy a complete team kit including gloves, warmers, vests, etc.? No, but you must purchase a top and bottom as a minimum to race in. We of course would hope you would buy two sets and a skin suit for the stage races we are looking to make an impact on.  The rest  of the items are optional.  Team members are not obligated to buy uniform items but we would encourage them to sport our colors when they’re riding!
